Are you in your 40s, 50s or older and trying to wish away vaginal dryness or something else down there? Unfortunately, it may not be that simple. We may need some help.

In Vaginal Atrophy: Symptoms & Causes – Overview the (United States) Mayo Clinic explain:

Meno Martha and Vaginal Dryness

“For many women, vaginal atrophy not only makes intercourse painful but also leads to distressing urinary symptoms. Because the condition causes both vaginal and urinary symptoms, doctors use the term “genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM)” to describe vaginal atrophy and its accompanying symptoms. Simple, effective treatments for GSM are available. Reduced estrogen levels result in changes to your body, but it doesn’t mean you have to live with the discomfort of GSM”.

North American Menopause SocietySo, we may have to pluck up the courage to get the help we need because on page one in Vaginal Dryness the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) explain:

“Unlike hot flashes, which generally improve with time, vaginal symptoms typically worsen with time because of aging and a prolonged lack of estrogen”.

The (British) Women’s Health Concern encourage us to seek help explaining in Vaginal Dryness: A Silent Problem:

Meno Martha and Vaginal Dryness“Remember, women spend a third of their lives in a post menopausal state and they need to make sure that they maintain the quality of life that they had before the menopause. Vaginal dryness does not need to be treated as an inevitable part of growing older – something can be done about it”.
